The Venezuelan Government have decided, "as an act of grace," to pay £300 to Captain Brininp, master of the Leyland liner Xinian. who was imprisoned fouWing a collision between his ship and a small moorini: boat, in which a Venezuelan received injuries from which he died. Caj>. tain Brininp was kept in a prison for months awaiting trial, and questions were asked of Sir Austen Chamberlain in the House of Commons. Eventually Captain Brining was found "Not guilty" of manslaughter and acquitted.
