The first exhibition tennis matches seen at Cambridge were held on the courts on Saturday afternoon, when Bartleet and Sturt (Auckland). Laurenson (Matamata), and Sims (Hamilton), participated in a number of matches, at the invitation of the Cambridge Club. There was a large attendance of the public, estimated at nearly r>oo, and great interest centred in the play, which was exceedingly good.

In the singles Bartleet beat Sturt. B—6. 7—r>. both sets being well contested. Laurenson beat Sims. o—l. 6—4. This match wfis more even that the scores would indicate, nnd sonic good tennis was soon Bartleet and .Sturt beat Laurenson and Sims in a sterling three-set match. 3—6. 7—n, C—:?. and Bartleet and Laurenson bent Sturt and Sims, 6—l, 6—4.
