VICTORIA CRUISING CLUB.

ANNUAL RKG ATT A SAILED I\~ FRESH BREEZE. The Victoria Cruising Ciub liekl their annual regatta on Saturday afternoon, the races starting and finishing at the dredge No. 121, moored off St. Mary's Bay. There was a very freeh breeze from the south-weet, which found a few weak spots in gear and caused the 14-footer, Maybelle, to capsize off the western wall. The 2G-footeT, Starlight, carried away her peak halyards when leading her class. The entries were very good, totalling 75 in all the classes, but the hard breeze cut down the starters considerably in several classes, and others gave up during the races, due to carrying away gear. Result: Opab 1. Sea Dawn 2, Romp 3. The officers of the day were: Starter and judge, Mr. O. Johnson ; timekeepers, Messrs A. Perkins and H. Crowle.

DEVONPORT YACHT CLUB.

RACE FOR M CLASS. WON BY MARATEA. The Devonport Yacht Club held a special race on Saturday for the M class. The entries were: Maratea. Manenc, Maroro, Mawhiti, Mala, and Matarerc. The course was from off Victoria wharf, Deronport. round Bastion light beacon, thence round white light buoy, thence round Resolution buoy, thence round Sandspit, finishing at starting line. The race started at 2.00 p.m.. Maratea being nret away to a spleudid start, closely followed by Maroro, Matarerc, Maia, Mawhiti and Manene. On the lead across to Bastion, Maratea gained a little from Maroro, while Manenc ran up level with the others. Maratea continued to lead on the beat back from the white light to Resolution, and the finieh was timed as follows: —Maratea, 4h Om ,-)Os; Manene, 4h llm 30s; Mawhiti, 4h 14i)i ; Maroro, 4h 14m 10s. Matarere and Mala gave up. Result : Maratea 1, Manene 2, Mawhiti 3. Mr. W. A. Wilkinson was starter, aud Mr. E. Spraggon timekeeper.

RACES AT BLCKLAKD'g BEACH

The New Zealand Outboard Motor Boat Association were to have held races at Biickland's Beach on Saturday, but when tins contestants arrived by wntor. motor car. motor van and trailer it was found that the hard south-west breeiee, combined with the Hood tide, made the water too rough for these small craft, and the officer* of the day reluctantly decided to call them all off until next Saturday.

There was a big attendance of the public, and the following outboiml bouts wore ready to start :—Miss Arawa, Miss Ak.irana. Vave, Hainbow. Humbug, Dl«zy, Miss Taniaki. II Devil, Fleetun, Nymph, Chief, and Chancit.

Rainbow. Vave and Humbug were put afloat nnrt tried out. but the strong beam wind aud choppy sea was too much for them.
