Fraser has returned to Hamilton from a. holiday spent at Taupo. Mrs. Alexander, of Wellington, has been on a visit to Cambridge. Mrs. Peake has returned to Te Awamutu from a holiday .spent at Thames. Prior to the marriage of Miss Mona Johnstone. the committee of the Sonning Old Girls' Association gave her a wedding present at her home in Hamilton on Monday. A very jolly hour was spent and a dainty tea was eerved. Those present were:—Mrs. Lindsay Johnstone, Misses M. Johnstone R Johnstone, D. Clark, I. Vereker-Bindon, M. Clayton-Greene. D. Yule. N. Valder F. Jolly, B. Vickery, F. Hall and R. \ lekerv.

A pretty wedding was celebrated in St. Peter"s Cathedral on Wednesday morning. The bride was Miss Monk Johnstone, fourth daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. Lindsay Johnstrvne, of Hamilton. Tiie bridegroom was Guy VerekerBindon, elder son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Vereker-Bindon, of Hamilton. The ceremony was performed by the Yen. Archdeacon E. M. Cowie, assisted by the Rev. Dean G. R. Barnett. The chancel was beautifully decorated for the wedding by the friends of the bride, with blue and pink hydrangeas. The bride wore an ivory georgette frock, with blonde lace frills, and honiton lace veil. She carried a sheaf of lilies and sweet peae. Two bridesmaids attended the bride, Miss Ruth Johnstone and Miss Joyce Vereker-Bindon. They -were dressed alike in pink georgette," embroidered in blue and silver, and wore picture hats of silver, blue and pink. Peggv McXicol and Enid Smith were the flower girls and they wore mauve and silver frocks. The best man was Mr. H. C. M. Xorris, and the groomsman Mr. ,1. H. Robertson. Messrs. D'Arcy Smith and Eric Clayton-Greene were the ushers. After the ceremony the bride's mother

entertained the guests at her home in Liverpool Street. The tables in the marquee were decorated in pink and blue, and the same colours were used in the house. The guests were:—Mesdames E. M. Mis« Betty Manning gave a delightful bridge party at her home in Claudelands on Friday for her guest. Miss Rosemary Naller, of Auckland. Choice cactus dahlias, miniature sunflowers and hydrangeas were artistically arranged in the rooms. Mrs. Manning wore a smart black lace frock over briar rose pink; Miss B. Manning, black georgette; Mists Nailer, smart black taffeta. Others present included: —Mrs. Fred. Gordon, Mrs. Lance Tompkins. Mrs. Colin Taylor, Misses K. Baker (Tauranjza); N. Monckton, E. Guy, E. Simmons, X". Giltillan, R. Vickery, A. Wilson, Jv. Oliver, X*. Yalder, X. Pittar, C. Chitty, B. Vickery. The prizes were won by Mies Ailsa Wilson and Miss Xell Pittar.

At the Wattle tearooms a farewell was given to Sister Caldwell, who is shortly leaving the Waikato Hospital to take up her duties as matron of the Waihi Hospital. During the afternoon a presentation was made by Nurse Stronach of a silver tea pot and hot water jug. Sister Caldwell suitably replied. Those present were:—Mrs. Caldwell, Misses Buxton, Hyland, Tr< lit beck, .lackson. Hovel 1, Mahoney, Johnson, <!ordon, Thompson, (Irevillc, J'aton, Muuford, CiHinble, Roberts, Uardc-ner and Brown.

The members of the Whitiora Croquet Club frave an "at homo" on their lawns on Wednesday, in honour of Mis. Kiblilewhite's success at the recent Xew Zealand croquet tournament held at Waiijrunni. Mr**. Burrow, the president, made a speech congratulating Mrs. Kibblewhite on her success, tr< which Mrs. Kiliblewhite suitably replied. Progressive cro(|uet and target croquet were played. A dainty tea was served in the pavilion, and an enjoyable time was spent.

A farewell social evening was jriven in the Te Palm hall on Thursday for Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mahoney, who are leaving the district. The hall was prettily decorated, ami there was a attendance of residents from the surrounding district. Musical items were contributed liy:—Miss A. Bell. Miss Arey. R. Hell, Messrs. J. (Jodfrey. J. Papoch and Hall. Mrs. Mahoney was presented with a handsome cheque from her friends, and Mr. Mahoney with a walking stick. The function concluded with sinking "Auld Lang Syne."
