ENPULSION THE CONSEQUENCE? (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday.
"I can't really believe that is true" ■aid Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Police Court to-day when ho was told by the probation officer, Mr. W. H. Darby," that n the event of a conviction against William Hay Ramsay for theft. Ramsav would not bo allowed to remain in the Cashmere Sanatorium, where he is a patient. Mr. Darby said Dr. Aiken had told him that if Ramsay were convicted fie would have to leave immediately. Mr. Stacey, for accused. 'hat the conviction should be held"over until the sanatorium treatment wa* completed, but the magistrate said he did not think the position had been stated correctly. Chief Detective Carroll said Dr. Aiken illicit not be the last word in the control or tiie sanatorium. Accused, who is already on probation, vvas charged with the theft of a bievclHe was convicted and placed on probation until tjie expiration of his present team of probation.
