GRAFTON BRIDGE FATALITY.
With reference to the inquiry •■ llie ?3rd mst. into the death of Henry Ashby. From tke evidence it reads as though thie boy had bee« dismissed from the chemist with whom he m employed on account of the Child Welfare Department's information about Wβ record. 1, as the chemist, wish to point out that thfc is far from being correct. I engaged this bof knowing the full details of his case, and during the period of four and a half months whe* he was in my employ I found him a m«4 obliging and conscientious little chap and m willing worker-—just the average boy in every way. I had never the slightest fault to finj in him. Hia reasou for leaving me wu that he understood that he had obtained a position as a messenger boy with a taxi company; tlii* position unfortunately did not eventuate*. Pel* aonally I had a keen liking for the boy an| was rather pleased at his prospect of obtaining what he thought was a permanent position witfc the taxi company.
