(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MATAMATA, thia day.

A petition was received by the Town Board asking that the statutory halfholiday be on Thursday, instead of on Saturday. It contained 40 signatures. Another petition, containing 28 signatures, was received in favour of retaining Saturday.

The board at its meeting on Monday decided in favour of the half-holiday on Thursday.
