(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MATAMATA, thia day.
A petition was received by the Town Board asking that the statutory halfholiday be on Thursday, instead of on Saturday. It contained 40 signatures. Another petition, containing 28 signatures, was received in favour of retaining Saturday.
The board at its meeting on Monday decided in favour of the half-holiday on Thursday.

Wide support Is being given to a petition in favour of retaining Saturday ap the day for the weekly half-holiday at Thames. It will be banded to the Borough Council at Ua next meeting.
