NAVAL CONSTRUCTION.
FRENCH CHAMBER AND BILL. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 1.30 p.m.) PARIS, January 15. The Chamber of Deputies, without a debate, passed the Naval Construction Bill providing for the laying down before June 30 of one 10,000-ton cruiser, six 2400-ton destroyers and six 1500-ton submarines, as well as a minelayer and several dispatch vessels and tankers.
M. Leygnes said: "No country wants peace more than France, but we must, have ships to defend our legitimate interests."
