COROMANDEL OUTLOOK.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
COROMANDEL, this day
There appears to be every prospect of a revival in mining at Coromandel. The Hauraki Consolidated has now unwatered the mine to the 400 ft level, and work is in progress with a view to improving ventilation; a rise is being put from the level to the Tangye shaft, to provide a free passage of natural air. As soon as the preliminaries are completed, work will be commenced to stope out the reef over the 400 ft level. The reef is a large ore body, and has been proved for over 70ft at the level, some of the stone showing strong gold. Tt should not take long, unless something unforeseen occurs, to break out a parcel of ore for the battery, and it is anticipated the result will prove quite satisfactory. It is reported that a party of tributers are getting gold in another part of the Hauraki. In the Father's Hope mine. McNeil and party are reported to be getting gold, and a few pounds of picked stone are in hand. It is also reported that gold is being won by a party working in the Four-in-hand mine
