GALE IN COOK STRAIT. AIRMEN WIN THROUGH. NAPIER, this day. Captain George Bolt «nd Captain Stidman, of Wellington, arrived at Napier on Saturday in an Avro-Avian plane, after a two and a-half hour trip from Wellington. On Friday they flew from Christchureh to Wellington in three and three-quarter hours in a howling gale, the weather being so bad that the airmen were fearful that they would jiot reach Wellington.

The flyers actually turned back but again "gave it a go" and landed 'safely at Lyall Bay.
