The funeral cortege was an exceedingly lar«e one and a ma— of floral emblems, which covered the heaw and the coffin, came not only from the late gentleman's personal friends but from many who did rot know him personally, but desired to pay homage to hi» heroic sacrifice.
The body of Mr. Clarence Hunter, who al>o sacrificed hi* life, was washed ashore yesterday morning about a mile above the hot springs. It was brought into Kawhia by launch. An inquest \\a> opened and after e\ idence of identification had been heard it was adjourned till Tuesday.
