HOW THEY PLAYED. COMMENT ON THE MATCHES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Kennington (Hutt) went down heavily to Norwood (Victoria) in the third round, the score being 26—8. This was Norwood's first win in the tournament. Hueston (Gisborne) is doing well in section K. To date ho has had four wins and is at the head of his section. Hueston was a member of the Victoria Club (Wellington) about 15 years ago, and has a good record in both club and tournament competitions.

Bremner (West End) is going strong. He has had only one loss. Maxwell Walker (Auckland) is at the top of section H and looks a likely one for poht-sect ion play. T. Yates (New South Wales), who was beaten 37 —8 by Kl.iten (Phoenix) in the third round, forfeited his game against Chambers (Sunnier) in the fourth round when the rain came on.

Brackenridge (Victoria), who beat Bleach (Melbourne) in the iirst round, went down to his old club mate, Priddle (Newtown), in the third round by a single point after a fine game in the wind. Bencfield (St. Johns), beat Forteons (Welijigton), by 14 points in the third round. It was his first win in the rinks. Hodd (Wellington), who had two wins yesterday, went down to Ardell (Hataitai), in the third round. Bontley (Dunedin) has had two losses. Stephens (Kelburn) accounted for him in the third round to the tune of 24—15,

Bewley (Hastings) is going strong in section A and should be heard of toward the end. His club companion (Land) is not doing quite so well. Xorrie Bell (Hamilton) is one of the soundest of tournament players, and has been so for 20 years. He has four wins to his credit and is a likely one to reach postsection play. For many years Bell played for the Wellington" Club. Parsons (Ponsonby) had no difficulty in disposing of Shepherd (Hataitai) in the third round on the Wellington green. The difference was nine points. One of the most decisive defeats this morning was that of Alderson (New South Wales) by Nash (Palmerston North). The latter scored 31 points while Alderson registered only seven. Rogerson (Western Australia) had a good win in the third round, when he defeated Dee (Nelson), who is always a hard man to beat. Bleach (Melbourne) had a great game with Rennie (Christchurch). winning by a single point on the last head.
