OBITUARY.

MR. JOSEPH SPEIGHT,

A former member of the staff of the "Lyttelton Times," Mr. Joseph Speight, has died at Palmerston North at the advanced age of 88 years. He gave up journalism to go farming in Canterbury, and only retired from active work on the land about 10 years ago. Mr. Speight was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, and was manager of a woollen mill at the age of 20 years. In 18.79 he married a Miss Quinn, who died m ISS , -.
