RIDER'S JUMP FOR SAFETY,

CRASH NEAR TAXGIWAI.

TAIHAPE, Sundav

Mr. F. Graff, a railway surfaceman, of Taihape, had a narrow escape from death when riding on a jigger, near Tangiwai. through being overtaken by a light engine. As lie jumped off the jigger the engine crashed into the machine and flung it o ff the rails. The jigger struck Mr. Graff on the side and bruised his lower ribs. He was taken to the Taihape Public Hospital with slight injuries, and ho is making good progress No carriages were attached to the engine.
