AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET.
EXCHANGE RE-OPENS
QUIET COMMENCEMENT
The Auckland Stock Exchange re-opened this morning after the Christmas and New Year vacation, members being welcomed back by the chairman, Mr. Geo. G. Creagh. Bidding opened quietly and no sales were recorded at the ten o'clock call.
At the noon call there were a few additional inquiries but no business was recorded. Popular stocks before the holidays such as Auckland Gas,, N.Z. Breweries, Waihi, Mt. Lyell, South British and N.Z. Insurance Companies are again being quoted in most cases at former rates. Buyers of Breweries are willing to go to £2 16/6, sixpence higher than before. Mount Lyell shares are asked for at £1 19/0, a rise of 9d.
