NEW YEAR'S DAY.

HAVE YOU MADE YOLK RESOLUTION

My Dear Little Friends,

A V t,»f 1 it-" , " * V , haS jUSt P ass <=d, and v,e are all aware of the jMitfjlful things with which the good St. Nicholas has filled our ChristmasstocKmgs. After Christmas, the next important occasion h the New Years Day celebrations. They will take place on January 1, 1929, tni- being the hroi day of the new year, or New Year's Day. In £.ng;and th- day is sometimes known as Resolutions Day, for then £7 F£* u-r ' esolut! °ns, which they promise to carry out to the best of the.r ability throughout the year, it is only right, after Santa Claus having been so kind in bringing a host of Christmas gifts for us, that we should try to deserve the presents given to us by the kindly old Saint, who is our Patron, so let us see what kind of good resolutions we can

Boys and girls who are Cubs and Brownies will no doubt do their turn every day, but added to this they might be able to do something else that could be useful, too. Perhaps daddy likes his slippers by the big easy chair in the sitting room; if so, it would be a good resolution for you to promise to keep them in their place all through the year, so that when father comes home from the office, feeling very tired after a hard day s work, all that he'll have to do is to sit down in his favourite chair and put on h;s slippers, which will be there waiting for him. And here's another thing that some of us might need to pass a very annoying for mother, you know, to find our things all over the place, resolution about—leaving our toys scattered about the floor. It's really and what is more the toys are very liable to get broken, and that would be a very great shame, for what could Betty do without her big sleeping doll, or Bill without his toy ambulance truck

Boys and girls, there's something to think about. You've just three days fco think out your resolutions X^™S and write them down on a piece or paper ready for you to make the /[) l^^&'£******^ promise first thing on the morning i*Tlf)AG>t> i****"^ of January 1, 1929. xjJvZ**^
