The actors were culled upon to shift the scenery themselves during intermissions and the management of the Odeon Theatre was forced to substitute another play for the scheduled "Bluebird" by Maeterlinck, because the sccnery was too heavy for the actors.

Alleged Confession In Railway Smash. PORTER'S STATEMENT. MELBOURNE, December 26. The Board of Inquiry into the Kocweerup railway collision on Christinas Eve, in which 40 persons were injured, has obtained a statement from a porter, named Gow, aged 22 years. It is alleged that Gow admits having pulled the wrong lever, which caused the accident. Only four of the injured people now remain in hospital.
