A man named Ernest Hamley was fined £10 this morning for bookmaking, and another bookmaker was fined £25. Yesterday's weather resulted in a decrease of £33,729 in totalisator investments at Ellerslie compared with the previous Oup day. John Warren Oliver stole £24 from another man's pocket yesterday in a city hotel, and to-day the magistrate granted him two years' probation.
