The Gntral Hotel was a scene of gaiety ntth Christmas parties and was beautifuly decorated by Mrs. S. A. Moore, tie proprietress. Schnapz Miss Jennings and Miss Blanche Alison. • • • Ye Cde Pirate Shippe celebrated its first Bxing Day by holding a dance carniva, those present entering into the fun in real gala spirit, streamers, balloons, Spanish and fancy hats, fans and al ki lids of novelties finding their way snongst the dancers. The nianageniet provided a pleasant interlude to the dncing by securing the services of Mr. "irrel O'Malley, who sang two songs "Because" and "Raniona," very charnngly, with Miss E. Treniain at the janii. The special guests of the evenig were eight officers from the Dan in research ship Dana now in port, induing Captain If. Christensen, Lieut. C. His and Messrs. X. Thomsen, P. .lespersa, K. Frohn, X. Sejrup, K. Xielscn and !. (iorgensen. With them were Mrs.Hopkins, M iss Oriftin, Miss Hodgson, diss R. Warbrick, Miss E. Hansen, MissXellie Stnydevant, Miss M. Harvey andvliss Wacker (Dunedin). An invitatia extended to the Midnight Frolics by le management was accepted, but owiv to trough weather they were lina.le to be present.
