FIJI'S DROUGHT BROKEN.
REDUCED COPRA OUTPUT. | (From Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, December 20. The long spell of dry weather had brought matters to a point when people were beepming more than anxious. There was only sufficient water in the reservoir to serve Suva, with care, for two weeks. A water famine was something that even the medical department shuddered at the prospect of. Happily, when the people had been put on rations, steady rain commenced to fall and is still continuing. All present fear of a famine is gone. Right through the colony the lack of rain was seriously affecting industry and the output of copra will be considerably reduced in consequence. Reports seem to show that general rains have fallen. Never in the history of the colony has such a long spell of droughty conditions affected the .group. <
