THE PONSONBY CLUB. FIRST CARNIVAL OF SEASON. Members 'of the Ponsonby Amateur Swimming, and Life Saving Club held tbrir first carnival of the new Reason nt the Shelly Beach baths yesterday afternoon in the preseh"C of a good attendance of the public. Although the number of competitors was hardly as laijre ns antiei)>ated some fine swimming was seen, nml there" were a number of exciting finishes. The ladies'- and men's 100 yds hand : eat>s were won by Miss Ena Stockley and It. 11. Lynch respectively, while Miss J. Thomson earned the honours in the 220 yds breastroke handicap.
