SISTERS THIEVING.
FIVE OFFENCES ADMITTED.
GOODS FOUND AT HOME.
"ADEQUATE PENALTY" NEEDED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Five charges of shop-lifting were made against two women, Annie Selina Kortegast, aged 36, and Anita Esther Wilson, 28, in the Police Court to-day. The value of the goods involved amounted to £16. The women pleaded guilty. Chief Detective Carroll said that the accused were sisters. They were seen taking away articles from Beath and Co.'s shop. The police, on viaiting their premises, discovered other articles, which accused frankly admitted having taken from shops. She younger woman was married and had two children.
Mr. Mosley, S.M.: These offences have extended over a lengthy period. It is difficult to know exactly what to do with these women. Offences of this sort should be dealt with by an adequate penalty.
Accused were remanded to appear tomorrow.
