NEXT YEAR'S ELECTION.

A deputation of over 30 ratepayers waited upon the Mayor of Mount Albert (Mr. L. E. Rhodes) last evening, and asked him to again offer himself for the position.

The deputation was introduced by the deputy-Mayor, Mr. J. H. Langley, who said that it was generally desired that Mr. Rhodes should retain the position. During his six years of office, Mr. Rhodes had proved himself a keen and efficient business man, who had the hearty support and co-operation of the majority of the council. His integritv of purpose and had secured him many supporters who realised the srreat progress which was being made throughout the borough under his administration.

Other councillors who supported the proposal were Mr. A. A. Buckley Mr P. Floyd, and Mr. J. Taylor. Messrs. T. B. Clay and Bennett, exMayors of Mount Albert, also spoke in appreciative terms of Mr. Rhodes' ndminiatrative abilities. They pointed out that the works undertaken were of i nermanent nature.
