LIVE STOCK MARKET.

At Weetfield to-day Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., penned beef to the number of 427 head, compared with 351 at last Wednesday's sale. The cattle comprised 262 steers and 165 cows. The quality generally was first-class, and there was a steady demand without alteration in values. They quote:—Extra choice ox sold to £2 2/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, £1 18/ to £2 1/; ordinary and plain ox, £1 15/ to £1 17/; prime young cow and heifer beef, £1 14/ to £1 17/; ordinary cow beef, £1 10/ to £1 14/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £16 to £16 12/6; heavy prime steers £14 10/ to £15 17/6; lighter prime steers, £13 to £14 7/6; light prime steers, £11 10/ to £12 17/6; unfinished And small, £10 2/6 to £11 7/6; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £11 to £12 5/; heavy prime young cows and heifers, £9 to £10 17/6; lighter, £7 15/ to £8 17/6; other cows, £5 10/ to £7 12/6. The top price of £16 12/6 for extra prime heavy steers was secured for the pen entered by Treewin 'Brothers, of Marohemo, the buyer being Mr. A. W. Scotting, of St. Helier's.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report:—Beef was penned in average numbers at our weekly fat stock sale at Wcstfield. Competition was eteady throughout with values firm at late rates. We quote: Extra choice ox sold to £2 2/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, £1 !&/ to £2; ordinary and plain, ox, £1 15/ to £1 17/: prime young cow and heifer beer, £1 15/ to £1 17/; ordinary cow beef, £1 12/ to £1 14/; heavy prime steers, £14 15/ to £15 15/; lighter prime steers, £13 to £14 12/6; light prime steers, £11 15/ to £12 17/6; unfinished and small, £3 10/ to £11 10/; extra heavy prime youug cows and heifers, £12 to £14 15/6; heavy prime young cows and heifers, £P 15/ to £11 10/; lighter, £8 15/ to £H 10/; light, i>7 to £8 10/; other cows, £5 10/ to £6 15/. No extra heavy prime steers were penned. A very fine prime heifer sent in by 3fr. E. Shepherd, of Otahuhu, realised £14 17/6, and was purchased by Mr* John Rowe, butcher, of Newmarket
