The southern two-year-old Honour is credited with training on in a satisfactory manner at Riccarton. He is due to make his next appearance in the Great Xorthern Foal Stakes at Ellerslie on Boxing Day.

Eoman Pearl will represent T. R. George's stable on the Taranaki racing circuit during the holiday meetings. The Romeo iilly lias shown fair speed in several of her races and should show up in minor cvente during the trip.

Yaqui is going along nicely in his preparation at Ellerslie and will be given a run at the Auckland meeting at the end of the month. This gelding won a mile hack race at Ellerslie twelve months ago, but has nothing to his credit since then.

The local hack Tanerirl ran a solid race in the Melrose Handicap at the Takapuna meeting, when he accounted for all but the winner, Jolly Money. Taneriri has not had a great deal of racing and should get on the winning list during the coiintry fixtures.

The Hunting Song—Lavenham filly Karsavina has resumed work again at Ellerslie after a short spell. Karsavina is the only progeny of the imported horse Hunting Song in work *t Ellerslie. She ie a good-looking sort and may be given a run in juvenile races in tha autumn.

Boston was credited with running the six furlongs in 1.14 when he scored over that distance in the Trial Stakes at Canterbury Park (Sydney), last week. The half-brother to Gasbag trained by tie ex-New Zealander Gedrge Price, and now that he has got on the winning list may soon do much better.

The third registered by Salamander in the Kawau Hlghweight at Takapuna was an improvement on hia past form and' he may do better before the season ends. Salamander has been schooled over hurdles of late and will be given an opportunity to make good as a jumper later on in the season.'

The following horses are being worked the reverse way at Riccarton, in view of their engagements at the Auckland summer meeting . (says a southern writer): Honour, Zenxis, Red Heckle, Night March, Crown Area, Golden Armour, Hoylake, Goblin Market, Moorgas, Count Cavour and Court Jester.

,If taken to the Taumarunui meeting Takutama should pay expenses on the trip. This gelding was in good form at the Te Kuiti meeting, where he scored a first and ran two seconds in his three starts at the meeting. Takutama has plenty of speed and is a quick beginner, and these factors count on the country race tracks.

Rapier has not done any fast work since the New Zealand Cup meeting, and he can be looked upon as an improbable visitor to the Auckland meeting, eays a southern writer. He will be kept in steady work in view of making his reappearance at the Wellington summer meeting, in January. His trainer, H. Nurse, will have a large team engaged at the West Coast meetings.

Good reports ccrnie from Woodville regarding the condition of Gascony. He «nn * ii° have furni shed and done ss '£§ *s,,r £''«"-- bowling along in pleasing style at Wood-

Ten horses left in the Great Northern Derby figure among the entrants for the Queen 3 Plato, which is run a week pre Vlous < to the classic. The ten horses claiming the double engagement in the two races in question are: Gold Moncv, Aggressive, Mom-gas, Taneriri, Cashier' Briar Root. Ked Liou, Teheka. Kinross and The Warden. Last year Martarma won the Queen's Plate, and followed that up by recording a victory in the Great Northern Derby, and Star Stranger did sfmilarly two seasons previously.

Count Cavour's record in the Auckland Cup during the last three seasons has been outstanding, for he finished second on each occasion. In his first attempt he carried 8.13, and the following year 9.5; the same impost that he carried in the event twelve months ago. Count Cavour has been galloping impressively n-t Riccarton for some- weeks past, and if h* goes to the post for the two-mile event at Ellerslie on Boxing Day he should put up a creditable performance with 8.» cm his hark. T he Count is belter n S 1 iCld [ ng VaS as V°? d "w if not vaa at this time la3t

tOriiiax and The Lover were associated in a .-even furlong gallop on the course proper at Kllerslie this morning. They ran the distance in 1.37 2-5, and both horses did their work well.

Harbour View (11. Olive) gave a good exhibition of jumping over several schooling hurdles at Ellerslie this morning. This gelding is in capital condition for his coining engagements.

Tlio Gay Lad three-year-old Justify showed a good turn of speed in his races at the Takapuna meeting and ran well, considering it was his first outing this season. Ho is likely to do a good deal better when he has had more racing experience. °

If started in the Taumarunui Cup the Te Awamutu hack Arikitoa is a likely sort that should show up among the class engaged in that race. He has already won over a mile course, and has given the impression that he would be capable of running out a longer journey.

Golden Wedding had been responsible for several good track efforts prior t3 the Takapuna meeting, and although she failed in the Alison Cup nearly brought brought off a surpise win in the St. Andrew's Handicap. This mare is steadily improving and may win a decent handicap before long.

When Te Koroke ran second to Royal Game in the Higgie Handicap, of a mile and a-quarter, at the Wanganui meeting in September, he put up a fairly good' performance, but he has raced indifferently since then. He only needs to reproduce his Wanganui form to be hard to beat in the big race at Taumarunui at the end of the week. Te Koroke is reported to be training on favourably at Te Aroha, and, that being so, it may not be long before he returns to the winning list. In her two outinga at the Takapuna meeting High Finance displayed her cus, tomary speed, but want of a race told against her and she was not equal to running out a solid six furlongs. Her best performance last season was her victory in the Stewards' Handicap, a sixfurlong event run at the Taranaki autumn meeting, in which she defeated Kiosk, Oration and Lady Cavendish. She is engaged in sprint races at the coming Auckland meeting and is likely to be an improved mare when that fixture is held. PERCEPTION ARRIVES AT ELLERSLIE. The three-year-old Perception arrived at Ellerslie this morning in charge of J. O'Brien, and will be quartered at E. J. Rae's stable until after the Auckland meeting is over. Perception bears a well-trained appearance, and haa lost that cumbersome and over-grown look that was noticeable last season when he raced as a two-year-old. C. Marsden also came across from Sydney, and will ride Perception in his races. WAIPA RACING CLUB. Acceptances for .all events to be run at the Waipa Racing Club's meeting close to-morrow at 5 p.m., and the same may be lodged either with the secretary Mr J. G. Wynyard, Tβ Awamutu, or with Messrs.
