CAUSE OF UNEMPLOYMENT.
This bogy of "introduction of machinery" is but a poor excuse for maladministration and an insult to intelligent people. Has the use of machinery only been resorted to during the last three years? This contention might have been accepted had the depression been gradual and spread over a number of years. Are we to knock the next fellow on the head who attempts to 'invent some labour-saving device so reduce intelligence to a state of imbecility? ARTHUR CUitMDfGS.
