OHINEMURI COUNTY.

P AERO A, Thursday.

The monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was held this afternoon, the following being present: Messrs. H. M. Corbett (chairman), 3. B, Morris, F. C. Huhbard, W. F. Johnstone, C. Mason, C. E. Mace, A. R. Robinson, R. R. Morrison, and (?. E. Hands.

Highways District Council forwarded the following approved items for maintenance of highways in the county for the year 1928-21): Haurakl Plains-Ohinemuri boundary to Paeroa West boundary, and Paeroa East boundary to Waihl West boundary, £4763, at £2 10/ for £1 ; Waihi East boundary to Ohinemuri-Tau-ranga County boundary, £285, at £ 1 10/ for £1; Hifentaltt "to Paeroa North boundary, £ 750 at £ 1 10/ for £1 ; Paeroa South boundary to Te Aroha North boundary, £1506, at £1 10/ for £1. The Health Department reported that the council's water Supply was quite satisfactory, and forwarded details of the analysis.

The Under-Secretary of Mines forwarded the Minister's approval of the expenditure of £60, in conjunction with the P.W.D. grant of £200, in providing a crate at the ford in the Maratoto Stream.

The resident engfifeer, P.W.D., Paeroa, advised that his Department would maintain the Waihi-Whatigama ta Road until March 1, 1931, and his request for the amount of rate# lifted from properties fronting the deviation was complied with. The council decided to support the Piako County Council in Its representations against a proposal to abolish httsvy traffic fees.

Six tenders wert received for the contract in connection with the water supi>ly dain and works, W. fl. Taylor (£1631 10/) being successful.

The OMnemnrl District Crashing Committee forwarded the decisions of a conference ■frith the inspector of mines. One decision expressed the view that steps should be taken by the . Government to retain the aerial fthd ground tramway belonging to the Crown G.M. Company, and that the Government he urged fo negotiate with the company and have the ft-amway tested in the Ohinemuri County Council, ihe council decided to adopt this resolution and forward it to the Government.
