TAKAPUNA GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

CONCERT IN DEVONPORT. The Devonport Parish Hall was' crowded last evening when the Takapuna Grammar School pupils gave their annual entertainment in aid of their playground fund. The boys and girls vied with each other rn the presentation of a moat varied programme which reflected great credit on them and the staff of the school. Country dances, poi dances and massed songs by the girls were rendered with vim and enthusiasm, while the boys, in topical skits and burlesques, delighted the audience. The third form girls also contributed an original play in costume under Miss Davis, which was well received. An elocutionary item by Joyce Crosher, a sword dance by Alice Stevenson, and orchestral items by the school orchestra under Mr. Thompson, rounded off an excellent programme. Mr. A. Coulan was stage manager, Miss Sutherland conducted the singing, Miss Wann supervised the country dances, and Miss Adams led the poi dance. The entertainment will be repeated in the Foresters' Hall, Takapuna, to-night.
