TODAY'S RACING.

TE KUITI FINALE. MERVETTE IN BIG MONEY HACK CUP TO THE LOVER. (By Telegraph,.—Special to " Star.") TE KUITI, this day. The Te Kuitj Racing Club's annual meeting is concluding in dull weather, which may be showery as light rain fell after the first event. There is a fair attendance. The track is in good order meantime. Surprise in Hurdles. General Rose was withdrawn from the Pio Pio Hurdies, the opening event of the day, and Star of the East (£228), Stormy (£217) and Lady Spalpeen ( £138) were backed in that order. Hangawera led over the first fence, followed by Tinopono, Town Hall, Lucilius and Terrapeen. Stormy was nearly down at this hurdle and lo?t a lot of ground, while Ah Wera blundered at the next fence. Passing the stand Highflown was in charge attended by Tinopono, Terrapeen, Star of the East, Abbott's Delight, Archeen, Hangawera, Lady Spalpeen and Ramblin' Kid, with Stormy last. Along the back Highflown led Tinopono, Star of the East and Terrapeen, but when they reached the top Star of the East was in charge with Highflown, Tinopono, Lady Spalpeen and Ramblin' Kid handy. Ramblin' Kid was first to turn for home and went on to win by six lengths from Lady Spalpeen with Star of the East two lengths away. Tinopono was fourth, then came Highflown, Master Arch, Abbott's Delight and Stormy. There was only £26 10/ on the winner. t Close Finish in Trial. All started in the Trial Handicap, most support coming for Monetize (£254), Rose Arch ( £161) and Te Taone ( £143). Sulla was the first to move, followed by Cloudbank, but the last-named was in front as they raced across the back, with Upoko, Flying Tresses, Te Taone, Rose Arch, Sulla and Swiftlight following. Te Taone ran up second to Cloudbank across the top, with Flying Tresses, Rose Arch, Upoko, Archieleen and Archieval next. Coming into the straight Cloudbank still had charge from Te Taone, Archieval and Rose Arch, ,but he tired in the run \ home and Archieval appeared to be winning when Sulla came with a late run and got up in time to win by half a i length, with Archileen a he,ad away in I third place. Te Taone was fourth, next came Prince Val, Nurjahan and Swiftlight. The Big Event. Papatu was the only defection from the Waitomo Handicap, which was a fair betting race, with Schorr (£333), Siaosi (£306) and Mervette (£189) carrying most support. The race was run in heavy rain, and when the field came past the stand, the order was The Thorn, Tinokoa, King Smock, Te Koroke, Mervette, Schorr, Siaosi, and Bright Day. Tinokoa and The Thorn were together clear of Te Koroke going along the back, with King Smock and Mervette next. Crossing the top Tinokoa was just in front of The Thorn, King Smock, Te Koroke, Mervette and Siaosi, and he turned for home four lengths clear of The Thorn, who was two lengths ahead of King Smock, with Mervette and Te Koroke following. Mervette finished on best and got the verdict by a length from King Smock, with The Thorn one Tinokoa, Bright Day and Schorr. Favourite Wins Hack Cup. The twelve acceptors all went to the post in the Maniapoto Hack Cup, with the exception of Brampton. When betting closed most money was invested on The Lover (£418), Leitrim (£363), and Speechless ( £195). When they settled down Arch Queen was leading Leitrim, The Lover, Whaka King, and Speechless, and going along the back the order was Arch Queen, Leitrim, Whaka King, Speechless, Roman Abbey, The Lover, and Master Roley. Leitrim had taken I charge crossing the top, attended by The Lover, Arch Queen, and Speechless, but when they turned into the straight The Lover went to the front, and had no difficulty in winning by one length and a-half from Speechless, who defeated Star Comet by a length. Master Roley was fourth, then followed Arch Queen, Leitrim, Glena Bay, and Whaka King.
