THREE KILLED.

CAR ROLLS DOWN BANK. THREE OTHERS INJURED. ALL TAKEN TO HOSPITAL TRAGEDY NEAR COROMANDEL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. Mr. W. Wilson, foreman at the Thames works of Messrs. A. and G. Price, Ltd., lost his wife, his younger daughter and his father yesterday afternoon when the car he was driving capsized on the Manaia Hill, five miles from Coromandel. In addition, three persons were injured. Their names are:-— Killed. W. Wilson, senior, of Devonport. Mrs. Wilson, wife of Mr. W. Wilson, junior. Jessie Wilson, aged two years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Wilson. Injured. W. Wilson, junior, broken collarbone and shock. V. S. Carrel, fracture of several ribs and bruises. Margaret Wilson, aged six years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Wilson, arm broken and injuries to leg.

The party was returning to Thames in Mr. Wilson's car from a visit to Mr. Frank Shepherd, the mine manager of the Hauraki Gold Mining Company, of CoromandeL The accident occurred at •bout four o'clock, when the car was at the top of the Manaia Hill, where the road is extremely rough and. dangerous, with banks and steep drops on either side. Mr. Wilson thought he heard another car approaching and pulled into the away from the edge. The wheels became lodged in the water-table and the driver pressed the accelerator to get the car out. went suddenly over the side of the road, and rolled 300 ft down into a stock accommodation paddock below. Mr. Wilson, senior, and Mrs. Wilson were killed almost instantly. The others were taken to the Coromandel Hospital, where the child Jessie Wilson died soon after her admission. The car, a new sedan, which Mr. Wilson had recently purchased, was damaged beyond repair. Mr. Wilson is the foreman at the Thames works of Messrs. A. and G. Price, Ltd., where he has been employed for a long time. His father, a retired engineer, was a resident of Devonport, and was.spending a holiday with his son. Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George S. Clark, a wellknown Thames family. Mr. Carrel is the inspecting locomotive engineer to the. Railway Department in connection with the construction of railway engines for the Department at Thames by Messrs. Price, Ltd. His wife resides 'in Auckland.
