INTERCLUB MATCHES. COMPETITIONS CONTINUED. Interesting matches were seen at sli courts where interclub tenuis was played under the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association on Saturday. The dav was nerfect for tennis, and the standard of form shown was more than ordinary for this time of the season. GRAWGE BAPTIST CLUB. There was a large gathering of members and friends at the Grange Roa-1 Baptist Club on the grounds adjoining the church on Saturday afternoon, when the Rev. A. S. Wilson, pastor of the church, declared the season open. Mrs. A. S. Wilson played the first ball.

PRESIDENT'S GOOD WORK. A silver fruit dish was presented to Mr. T. E. Hickson, president of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, and Mrs. Hickson to-day by members of the llemucra Lawn Tennis Club. Mr. E. W. Griffiths, president, said the club desired to mark its appreciation of the services given by Mr. and Mrs. Hickson. Mr. Hickson had held practically every office in the club, and he had the highest honours that could l>e conferred upon him by tennis players. Mr. Hickson. in reply, said his wife was a foundation member of the club, and that was the chief reason why he had joined. The presentation was a pleasant surprise.
TRAMWAYS CLUB'S WIN. Plaved at the Gaunt Street courts on Saturday, a match between the Vacuum nil Company and the Tramways Club resulted in a win for the latter by 12 sets to 7. The Oil Company's team wae captained by Mr. Blair, New Zealand director of the tirm, who was formerly a well-known amateur player. The Tramways' team was captained by Mr. G. Gordon. A good standard of play was seen In several of the mutches, notably the men's doubles and tingles. In welcoming the visitors during the afternoon tea adjournment, the secretary of the club. Mr. S. M. Farrelly, said that it was largely due to the interest taken in the club by the president. Mr. A. E. Ford, general manager, that the courts were arallable to the Tramway# employees.
