Mr. L. E. Strachan, of Chrietciurch, is visiting Auckland. Mr. J. Fuller arrived in Auckland by this morning's Limited express. Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P., came back from Wellington by the Limited on Saturday. Mr. J. W. Fletcher, M.P. for Grey Lynn, who has been on a visit to Wellington, returned by the Limited express this morning. Mr. B. L. Dallard, Controller-General of Prisons, was a passenger by the Limited express to Auckland this morning. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, who attended a meeting of the Council of the Boy Scouts in Wellington, returned to Auckland on Saturday. Mr. V. R. Gunn (Wellington), Mr. A. J. McKay (Wellington), and Mr. and Mrs. H. Gawle (Wairarapa) are staying at the Hotel Cargen. Sir George Fowlds, who has been to Palmertson North on Massey College administration business, returned to Auckland on Saturday. Mr. E. Casey, divisional superintendent North Island railways, who has been on a departmental visit to Napier, returned to Auckland this morning. Professor H. Belshaw, professor of economics at Auckland University College, came back" from a visit to the South by the Limited on Saturday. Mr. C. P. Butler, secretary of th* Whangarei A. and P. Association, who attended the Auckland Jubilee Show, returned to Whangarei yesterday. Mr. J. L. Black, of the Otorohang* railway station staff, has been traneferrey to Frankton Junction. Mr. Black is a noted New Zealand amateur golfer. Grand Hotel guests include Mr. J. Donald (Feathereton), Mr. H. G. Hammond (Wellington), Mr. Fred Wood (Wellington), Mr. David Allan (Welling, ton) and Mr. H. Newton (Wellington). Captain G. D. Dittmer, N.Z.S.C, adjutant First Battalion, Waikato Regiment, has been appointed staff officer in charge of the No. 2 regimental district at Paeroa in place of Captain Goes, who left for England last month. Mr. L. W. Nelson, president of the Whangarei A. and P. Association, who attended the Waikato Show, returned to Whangarei on Saturday to finalise arrangements for the North Auckland Show, which opens at Whangarei on Wednesday. Mr. P. R. Angus, assistant chief mechanical engineer, Mr. S. E. Fay, assistant superintendent of transportation, and Mr. E. P. Moir, traffic assistant to the divisional superintendent North Island Railways, left for the North this morning, to inquire into engine runs on the northern section of railways. Guests at the Star Hotel include Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Slierwood (Wellington), Mr. W. Mickers (Stratford), Mr. J. Mahon (Stratford), Mr. D. Gillanders (Stratford), Mr. A. McNeil (Wellington), Mr. W. S. Latrobe (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Oudaille (Hamilton), Mr. A. W. Gunn (Sydney), and Mr. W. Vosper (Cambridge , ). Staying at the Central Hotel are Mr. W. C* Roberts, Mr. L>. Sisam, Mr. J. (Whakatane), Mr. W*Uace Johnstono (Te Kuiti), Mr.. <***££ (Wellington).
