BYRD'S TRIBUTE TO SCOTT.
WREATH LAID AT MEMORIAL. EXPLORER NOW IN DUNEDIN (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. Commander Richard E. Byrd and members of hie party, arrived from Wellington this morning. They were met at the station by the Mayor, the town clerk and the American consular agent, Mr. H. P. Bridge. They were subsequently taken on a motor tour of the city and suburbs. In the afternoon Commander Byrd deposited a wreath at the foot of the Scott statue, in the presence of a large assemblage of the public, including representatives of local bodies. . The party left by the night' express for Dunedin.

The Jeiyion thought it would be fitting if Commander Byrd were to take the pen with him on. his present expedition, and »o Mr. Lincoln Ellsworth, who crossed the North Pole with Captain Amundsen, and who- is president of the legion, placed it in Commander Byrd s hands before he left the United States,
