FREAK MARIGOLD.

.■ • • "Never seen such a thing before," said an expert when shown a marigold with eighteen - heads. This strange flower was grown hy Mr. D. Twohill, of 2, Chapel Square, near St. Patrick's Cathedral. On the same stalk there are growing two blooms of- the usual size and character, and a third which is quite a freak. After an ordinary head had flowered, and the petals had died off, leaving the usual kind of seed head, out of the seed head grew a cluster of eighteen fresh blooms, each about an inch across. The effect of this strange second blooming is very odd. Mr. Twohill says he has never noticed such a thing before. The plant was grown from seed bought last year, and all the rest of the plants have behaved quit* normally.
