INTOXICATED IN CAR.
SADDUER FINED *25. LICENSE ALSO CANCELLED. "1 had been out to Waikumete with two friends, and only had a couple of drinks, sir," said John Heffernan (26), a saddler, who came before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court this morning on a charge of being in a state of intoxication while in charge of his motor car on Saturday. Heffernan pleaded guilty. The police said that Heffernan, in endeavouring to back his car, bumped into somebody, but did no harm. A traffic inspector saw what' happened and informed a constable, who found accused sitting at the wheel. Heffernan, who was quite drunk, was then locked up. "You have no right to be in a car," said the magistrate in fining Heffernan " JE2S, or two months' imprisonment. Heffernan'e license to drive was cancelled.
