Transformer Lifts Cup,
Hack Sprint To Frothblower. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") TE KUITI, this day. The Te Kuiti Racing Club's annual meeting opened to-day at Te Kumi in beautiful weather, and will be concluded on Holiday. The track and attendance arc good. The first day's programme commenced with the Kopaki Hurdles, for which Farndon, Gold Rep, Archeen, Lucilius and Niblick wore scratched. Stormy (£147) was favourite, next best backed being Tinoporo (£204) and Star of the East (£181). Star of the East was soon in front from Abbot's Delight, Tinopono, Lady Spaipeen, Pekataiii t<i\& Stormy. As they passed the stand Abbot's Delight was showing.the way to Star of the East, Tinopono, Lady Spalpeen and Torrapeen, but going along the back Tinopono took charge, followed by Star of the East and Abbot's Delight. As they raced across the top Star of the East ran to the frovt, his nearest attendants being Tinopono (£204) and Star of the Arch and Terrapeen. Star of the East turned for home about six lengths ahead of Tinopono, Lady Spalpeen, Master Arch, Terrapecn and Stormy, and went on to win by five lengths from Lady Spalpeen, who boat Terrapcen by two lengths. Master Arch was fourth, fol-' lowed by Tinopono, Stormy, Abbot's Delight, Hangawera, and Soami. Favourite Wins Awakino. Bombarder, Te Ngeru, the Jack Jumper, Monetize and Unoco did not parade for the Awakino Handicap. When the final figures were adjujsted Frothblower. (£292), Kerry Dance (£284) lail'' the Takutama-Roman Abbey bracket (£273) were in most demand. When they were let go Upoko lost ground, and Takutama was soon in front from Lady Cynic, Sulla, Hone Hoke, and Frothblower. Lady Cynic had charge crossing the top, with Takutai-.i, Frothblower, Sulla, Hone Heke and Maurea following, and she led info the straight, with Frothblower, Takutama, Sulia, Flying Tresses and Kerry Dance next. Frothblower soon settled Lady Cynic, and stayed on to beat Takutama by a neck, with Sulla three lengths away in third place. Lady Cynic was fourth, next to finish being Flying Tresses, Maurea, Always, Roman Abbey and Abbey Queen. The Maiden. Crown Arch, Just Nell, Little Toy, Ossian, and Sailor Boy were the defections in the Maiden Handicap. Monetize, was a good favourite, with £525 invested on his number, the next best supported being Valroo (£524) and Sports King (£232). Archieval led at tho start from Rose Arch, Valroe, Ah Wori, Swiftlight, and Monetize, with Gleim Bay and Pessimist last. Rose Arch had taken charge crossing the top, attended by Valroe, Ah Wera, Monetize, Valuation, and Achieval. Rose Arch was still in front as they turned for home, with Monetize f.nd Valroe handy, and the last-named staying on best, got tho decision by half a length from Rose Arch, with Glena Bay, who finished fast, a length away in third place. Monetize was fourth, followed by Valuation, Ah Wera, Joke Form, Sports King, Swiftlight, Pessimist, and Archieval.
Small Field in Cup. With High Pitch, Papatu, Gold Rain and Bright Day withdrawn from the Tc Kuiti Cup there were only six left to J contest the event. Siaosi was a good favourite and carried £029, with The Lover (£481) and Schorr (£309) also well supported. Tinokoa was first to show out from King Smock and passing the stand the order was Tinokoa, King Smock. Siaosi, The Lover, Transformer and Schorr. The field bundled along the back, with Tinokoa still in front and King Smock and Siaosi' handy. Crossing the top Tinokoa, King Smock and Siaosi were racing in' line with The Lover, Schorr and Transformer together a little further back. Tinokoa turned for home first, his nearest attendants being King Smock and Siaosi. Transformer then put in a fast run on the outside and got up in time to defeat Siaosi by three-quarters of a length, with Schorr half a length further back. The Lover was 4th, after which came King Smock and Tinokoa.
