NORTH SHORE TRANSPORT.
If reasonable progress is to be maintained and vacant land settled in Takapuna Borough it is evident that an electrical system of transport will have to be established. The existing privileged, non-competitive system of motor transport has been weighed in the balance and found wanting. Promises made have been broken and fares have been doubled and trebled. No redress can be expected from either the Takapuna Borough Council or the licensing authority because both have willinglysanctioned an increase of fares. Licensing Authority No. 2, the Devonport Borough Council, should, in the interests of the residents, be abolished and a North Shore Transport Board, elected by the people, set up to grans licenses, regulate fares and supervise the running of buses. This can be secured by tbi residents of marine boroughs and adjoining bays signing and forwarding a petition to Wellington; and, in my opinion, the sooner it is done tha better. JOHN GUINIYEN.
