Two prisoners whe escaped from the quarries at Mount Eden yesterday afternoon were recaptured about 5.30. Mr. E. H. Potter has been nominated by the Mount Eden Borough Council as a member of the Auckland Transport Beard. Drainage scheme for disposal of flood water at estimated cost of £10,000 under discussion by Mount Eden Borough Council. In repy to the M.C.C. score of 734 the New South Wales' cricketers made 349 in their first innings and 28 without loss in the follow-on. The match concludes to-day. Conference held yesterday between representatives of Auckland City Council and. Auckland Power Board agreed upon charges for power used by tramways. Two women shoplifters before the Court to-day pleaded guilty to systematic stealing, involving goods to a total value of £150. One fined £40 and the other £20. A special train, taking the Prime Minister and his party, will leave Auckland at 11 o'clock to-night, and is due at Wellington about 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon. The Local Government Loans Board has refused to sanction the Xewmarket proposal to borrow, under a special rating area, £14,000 for a new traffic outlet to relieve congestion in Broadwav.
