RAILWAY TOURS.
ADVERTISERS' PLAN. SPECIAL ARAPUNI TRIP. The example of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, coupled with a certain amount of push from the Railway Department, appears likely to influence other organisations to arrange for special trips.
To-day the chairman of the Auckland Advertising Club, Mr. A. H. Lees, stated that it was proposed to arrange a oneday trip to Arapuni. Mr. W. J. W. Pascoe, upon whom he called for details, stated that he had interviewed the Department and had found them so keen to make the tour attractive that he thought the complete fare by bus and train would be under £1 per person. It was proposed that the members, witli their wives and . families, should make the trip, and it tfas hoped that sufficient would agree to go to justify the running of a special train.. Apart from the social aspect Mr. Pascoe said it was most important that members should learn at first hand just what Arapuni meant to the province and to the Do--miivion. .;.
A call for a show of hands by the chairman resulted ,in a majority of tho=e present signifying their willingness to take part in the trip. Sunday appeared to be the day considered'most suitable. Ultimately it was decided that Mr. P. D. J. Barry..of the Railway Department, and Mr. Pacscoe be; asked to pet in touch with the whole of the membership with a view to finalising arrangements.
