Quoting extensively from the "Life fend Work of the Late Richard John Seddon," Dr. J. C. Hastings, who preeided at Mr. F.'N. Bertram's meeting in the Adelphi Theatre last evening, held the floor for «Te first twenty minutes. He was followed by Mr. J. J. Sullivan, ■who said that if he were a candidate and liia loyalty was challenged, he would fierve the person concerned with a writ and make him prove his word in the Supreme Court. (Applause.) During his speech Mr. Bartram said that Labour had a definite policy, and they had not been able to do a* much as they would have liked as they had ortly 14 members in the House out of 80. Therefore their policy was not on. the Statute Book. With the help of the workers—and between 80 and 90 per cent ,tof the population were workers —they wculd be able to achieve much. As the official Opposition they had been able to keep a check on the Government, and had carried out those duties faithfully. (Applause.) Mr. Bartram was "accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.
