"Defendant is a very respectable resident of Dunedin. He came up to Christchurch for the races, and this is the result," said Sub-Inspector Fitzpatrick to-day, when John William Murdock pleaded guilty to having been intoxicatel while in charge of a motor car in Oxford Terrace on Saturday, and with having failed to produce his driver's licensc. He was fined £10, in default 14 days' hard labour, and his license was cancelled.
