MORRINSVILLE AFFAIRS.
BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVIL.DE, Friday. The Morrinsville Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. W. McPherson) presiding. It was stated that an overhanging verandah at the Royal Hotel was unsafe, both for hoarders and the general public, as the woodwork was rotten. It was decided to notify the owner, Mr. Beggs, Papakura, to put in hand repairs within 14 days, failing which further steps would be taken. Accounts totalling £1802 2/ were passed for payment. The treasurer reported on the bank balances as followsßoading loan (credit), £623 2/3; baths loan, nil; sewerage connections (debit), £332 1/4; district fund (debit), £2102 13/9. Building permits were granted to W. Morrice, M. B. Mackenzie and J. Ford. The matter of the representation of the borough on the Waikato Hospital Board was touched upon by the Mayor. He pointed out that this topic had been fairly extensively discussed at one time, when it was contended that one representative for the Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Te Aroha and Morrinsville boroughs was insufficient. He had asked Mr. Coulter, Mayor of Te Aroha, who proposed waiting on the board, to advocate separate representation on behalf of both boroughs. A resident complained of the borough water supply being cut off on Saturdav night. The Mayor said he had had the same experience in his house. It was certainly dangerous in case of fire. The engineer, Mr. R. C. Branch, stated that the baths custodian had evidently diverted too much pressure to the baths. It was a difficult thing to measure and a gauge should be installed. The suggestion was agreed to by the council.
