SHOP ASSISTANTS' CHARITY.
A USEFUL. INSTITUTION
The Auckland Retail Shop Assistants' Union Charity Club will hold the final dance of tbe season in Scots Hall to-nlgbt. puring the past eight months the dances have proved most successful, and the club has donated £758 to various local charities and private cases of distress. The committee hopes to augment the amount abovementloned at the next meeting. The committees of the Charity Club and 'Centura Dance Club, have combined in organising a grand benefit dance in St. Sepulchre s Hall on Monday, November 26. 1928. Two leading bands of Auckland are giving their services voluntarily. In addition to the above activities, the committer will visit 13 orphanages during Christmas week, accompanied by Santa Claus and his wife, and distribute toys and gifts to the inmates. Last year the shop assistants' orphans' campaign committee donated three-valve wireless sets to each orphanage and a five-valve set to the patients on the leper station.
