Laird, of Taumarunui, left on TuaMlay for Shanghai, China, where she has- accepted a position. Prior to her departure she was met by members of the -legal Arm of Harris, Marsack and Hall, with whom she has worked for soma years, and Mr. Harris presented her ewith a cheque, expressing the wish th*fc she would meet with good luck in th» East. Miss Laird was also a guest at a bridge evening, at the home of Mrs. J. Maher. A presentation was made to Mis#;: Laird/en behalf of her many friends, by - Mrs. L. G. Godfrey.
