CORNER FOR BUSY BEES
A UNIQUE PRESENT. SUITABLE FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS.
(Conducted by TINKER BELL.)
Dear Girls, — . Here's a Christmas present for father. As you'll see in the picture, it is a funny looking little moth, but when you learn that it is really a holder for pipe cleaners and spills you'll realise how very useful "the funny little moth" is. The spill holder is ever so easy to make, and the material needed is quite cheap; in fact, you'll be able to get most of the things required from your scrap basket. First, a piece of stiff cardboard is required, and-on this the moth' is drawn. The shape, having been' carefully cut out, is covered with a dark brown material, which is glued into position. .It is preferable to use soft brown leather, and if the holder is to
be Daddy's Christmas present you won't mind paying a few pennies to make it extra nice. However, any kind of cloth or velvet will do. Half of the body, you will notice, is double, so another piece of cardboard is required. This is cut out just a trifle larger than the foundation body, so that when bound into position it will bulge slightly, making the pocket which is to contain the spills and cleaners. The edges are pierced with a number of holes, and strips of the material used to cover the body are threaded through them, making a very effective binding. The pocket, previously mentioned, is held in position entirely by this binding. The moth's eyes are two beads, sewn into position, and the tongue is a little brass ring affixed so that the bolder can hang on the wall near father's favourite armchair; the spots on the wings are made by glueing circles of cloth into position. Little more can be said, for the making of the spill holder is simplicity itself; all that remains to be done is a little card enclosed, and the present placed on father's breakfast plate on December 25.
