QUIET MEETING AT REMUERA.
For a change Mr. J. S. Dickson had a quiet-meeting-last night at Somervell Hall,' Remuera. He was listened to attentively by a good audience, and at the close of his ■. address ' was accorded a hearty vote of'- thanks-and confidence. Mr. R. G. Mellarswas chairman. Mr. Dickson was,loudly applauded when he said the Public-Works Department staff, from'-the. labourer/ right up to the e'ngineer-in-chief, .was .one of the finest in the world. He -mentioned that the Government hoped "to spend £2,500,000 on'main roads, which would benefit the iarming - community, and': also provide a lot of employment. , It was also intended, to'.-, put' acres under trees-next winter,'which' would also furnish work-for'a.number of men.
