WAIHI NEWS.

COMMERCE TRAIN'S VISIT.

VIRILITY OF TOWN SHOWN. '

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

WAIHI, this day. A floral exhibition and sale of work organised by members of the St. James* Presbyterian Church was opened this afternoon by the Mayor, who congratulated the organisers on the splendid display of roses.

Referring to the recent visit of the Commerce Train to Waihi, the Mayor said the tour had proved of immense value in welding more closely the associations of city and country. The visit of the business men to Waihi had also opened their eyes to the rapid progress of the farmlands of the Waihi plains, and the fact that Waihi at the present time was a two-industry town, and instead of "going off the map," according to the cry of the pessimists, it was really getting much further on. The Rev. J. D. McFarlane endorsed the Mayors remarks.
