C.J.C. MEETING.
CONCLUDING DAY TO-MORROW
THE FIELDS REVIEWED,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting will end to-morrow, and with it Carnival Week. The fields for the final day's racing are of good quality. Larinthia is likely to run prominently in the Cooper Hurdles, but a repetition of last Monday's form would make June of Spades hard to beat. Gay Sonnet may be the best of the runners in the Cressy Handicap, with Historic likely to give trouble. Aspiring was going well when he met trouble on Wednesday. He and Dutch Money may show up" in the Pioneer Handicap. Of those in the Members' Handicap, Cimabue ran a solid race in the Criterion Handicap, and should beat Arrow Lad, whom he meets on 81b better terms for a head beating. Childsplay should be hard to beat, provided she saddles up well after her run in the Oaks. Sarnia and Smithereens may be prominent in the Seymour Handicap. m The G. G. Stead Gold Cup should provide a contest fnll of interest. Silver Paper should be capable of a good mile and a-quarter, but will find Rapier and Laughing Prince a hard pair. With Rapier slightly amiss during the last few days, Laughing Prince may be favourite. In the Stonyhurst Handican Prickles reads well, and she may find Consent hardest to beat. Mandane may be favourite in the Fendalton Handicap, and Sir Roy may prove the best of the others. The acceptances are:— PORT COOPER HURDLES of 250sovs. One mile and three-quarters. St. lb. gt. lb.
