JUDGMENT IN TURUA CASE

Mr. Platts, S.M., to-day delivered his reserved judgment m a Turna affiliation case, in which, he said, the defence was regrettable for the amount of slander and perjury. He was satisfied that the defendant, Lawrie Schmidt, and his witnesses had sworn falsely when attempting to blacken the girl's character. He ordered Schmidt to pay 15/ per week, plus back maintenance and birth expenses. Security for appeal was fixed at £35.
