(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Messrs. W. H. M. Yarrow, James Jackson and St. C. Jounneaux have been nominated for the vacancy on the rtjrough council When the northern express was passing Waiotu, it was noticed hy passengers that a house owned by Mr. P. Seymour aud occupied by a roadman was ablaze. The occupants were evidently away, as no attempt was being made to subdue the flames. A car driven by Miss K. Morey left the Parua Bay Road yesterday and fell ten or twelve feet over a Dank. A tree broke the fall, and the driver was not injured. The car was damaged.
